Middle Tennessee is bracing for the possibility of severe weather. The National Weather Service in Nashville says strong storms are possible today and tomorrow, especially west of I-65. Forecasters say the storms could produce small hail and wind gusts up to 50-miles-per hour. Widespread rain and thunderstorms are expected on Wednesday with strong to severe storms possible, including the potential for straight-line winds, large hail, and even a tornado.
The second annual Mega Job Fair will be held at the Valor Hall Event and Conference Center in Oak Grove Kentucky, just over the state line from Clarksville tomorrow and Wednesday from 10 o’clock in the morning until 3 in the afternoon. Nearly 40 employers from the Clarksville, Fort Campbell, and Hopkinsville areas will be there.
Officials with the Tennessee Department of Transportation are suspending interstate construction for the upcoming Easter holiday. The move is due to increased travel over the weekend. Road work that requires lane closures will stop at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday and resume at 6:00 a.m. on Monday, April 18th. TDOT is asking motorists to follow speed limits and use caution when traveling over the busy holiday weekend.
Clifton Horn, a former volleyball coach at East Robertson High School, was sentenced Friday to four years in prison with an additional year of probation. The sentence stemmed from charges including sexual exploitation of a minor, unlawful photography in violation of privacy, and tampering with evidence. Horn has also been placed on the Tennessee Sex Offender Registry for a minimum of 10 years.
The Springfield Police Department is partnering with the Tennessee Highway Safety Office to promote “Slow Down Tennessee.” From April 15 through 29, the Springfield Police Department will increase education, awareness, and enforcement efforts to help reduce speeding-related crashes, injuries, and fatalities statewide.
