There is a ribbon-cutting ceremony for the White House Library Storybook Trail Monday morning April 18 at 11:30. The Storybook Trail, which is the first of its kind in White House, starts at the Andrew Jackson Trailhead, located next to Sonic at 417, Hwy 76. The trail is less than half a mile long and features the book “Red House Tree House Little Bitty Brown Mouse. ” The pages of the book are printed on 17 metal panels that line the trail. In addition to the story, at the bottom of each panel is an interactive question for kids ages 3 to 7.
A massive job fair will be held in the Clarksville area next week. The second annual Mega Job Fair will be held at the Valor Hall Event and Conference Center in Oak Grove Kentucky, just over the state line from Clarksville next Tuesday and Wednesday from 10 o’clock in the morning until 3 in the afternoon. Nearly 40 employers from the Clarksville, Fort Campbell, and Hopkinsville areas will be there.
Deputies in Sumner County are getting training on the use of a new non-lethal weapon. Officials say the new tool, called the “BOLA Wrap”, is meant to be deployed during mental health incidents when an individual is not complying with officers. The device consists of a small rope with hooks that attach to a person’s clothing and wrap up arms or legs. Officials say they have the BOLA Wraps and they will likely be put to use within the next month after all deputies have been trained on how to properly use them.
A group of veterans in Hendersonville and a neighborhood HOA are butting heads over improvements to a memorial. The veteran’s committee says the five-thousand dollars they’ve raised to improve lighting at the Veteran’s Walk memorial at the entrance to the Durham Farms neighborhood has not been put to use. Tyler Randle with the group says they provided the funding in November but the Durham Farms Master Owners Association decided not to go ahead with the project and to dissolve the veteran’s committee without returning the money. Reports say HOA Board Vice President Stan Brown says they plan to return the funds.
