A massive job fair will be held in the Clarksville area next week. The second annual Mega Job Fair will be held at the Valor Hall Event and Conference Center in Oak Grove Kentucky, just over the state line from Clarksville next Tuesday and Wednesday from 10 o’clock in the morning until 3 in the afternoon. Nearly 40 employers from the Clarksville, Fort Campbell, and Hopkinsville areas will be there.
The Cross Plains Heritage Commission has dedicated a new Reading Room to Oliver Biggadike, a Cross Plains resident who died last July. Before making Middle Tennessee his home, Biggadike had lived overseas as a journalist early in his career and was an avid reader. His entire collection of books was donated to the Heritage Commission. To return the favor, the Heritage Commission decided to honor Biggadike by naming one of the Reading Rooms at The Doctor’s House, where the Heritage Commission operates, after him.
The Tennessee Department of Health is out with its weekly COVID-19 update. TDH says there were nearly 250 cases per day last week. There were also an average of over 18 COVID-related deaths per day between March 27th and April 2nd. There have been over two-million-21-thousand COVID cases in Tennessee since the outbreak began.
The Tennessee General Assembly’s state Senate redistricting plan is being blocked by a panel of judges in Davidson County. They issued a temporary injunction yesterday. The panel ordered the General Assembly to fix issues with the map within 15 days. If the body fails to do so, the judges will impose a map for the 2022 state Senate elections.
Robertson County Schools is hosting an educational career fair tomorrow from Noon to 4:00. Principals and supervisors will be available for questions and interviews. While it is encouraged to attend the career fair to have a broader sense of areas you may be suited to serve in, you can also apply online.
