Robertson County residents are being impacted by Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.  Triple-A reports gas prices spiked by an average of 15-cents in Tennessee last week.  The statewide average is three-dollars-and-44 cents.  That’s 35-cents more than a month ago and 94-cents more than one year ago.  The national average is three-dollars-and-61 cents.

It’s time for Tennesseans to renew their hunting and fishing licenses.  All Tennessee 2021-2022 hunting and fishing licenses expired yesterday.  However, new licenses will be different.  From now on, Tennessee hunting and fishing licenses will be good for one year from the date they’re bought. Previously they expired on February 28th, regardless of when they were purchased.

The Nashville Zoo is opening an animatronic dinosaur exhibit this month.  The 20-foot tall dinosaurs were delivered to the zoo yesterday.  The exhibit, called DinoTrek, opens on March eleventh and runs through the middle of summer and features 20 dinosaurs including the fearsome T-Rex.  For more information on the exhibit search Nashville-zoo-dot-org.

Most of the state’s fastest-growing counties are in Middle Tennessee.  That’s the determination of a new report by Stacker, which used data from the U.S. Census Bureau.  Counties are ranked by the highest population growth from 2010 to 2020.  Davidson County is number one among the top five followed by Rutherford County, Williamson County, Montgomery County, and Knox County, which is in East Tennessee.

The state Senate is approving a bill that would create Historically Black Colleges and Universities Day in Tennessee.  If passed, the bill would celebrate all HBCUs on November 8th.  That’s the day in 1965 that the Higher Education Act was passed and HBCUs were designated by the U.S. Department of Education.  The bill approved yesterday still needs to pass the Tennessee State House.
