Much of the Mid-State is under a Flood Watch. The Flood Watch was issued by the National Weather Service in Nashville yesterday and will remain in effect until 6 o’clock tomorrow morning. The heaviest rainfall is expected north of I-40. Some sleet or freezing rain mix is also possible.
Rebuilding efforts are well underway at Stoner Creek Elementary in Mount Juliet. The building was nearly entirely leveled as tornadoes ripped through Wilson County in March of 2020. Principal Amanda Smith says staff and students are excited to see walls going up at the new building construction site. Wilson County School District says if work stays on schedule the school should be open in September.
The Tennessee Department of Health is out with its weekly COVID-19 update. TDH says there were over 31-hundred cases per day last week. There were also an average of over 80 COVID-related deaths per day between February 13th and the 19th. There have been two million COVID cases in Tennessee since the outbreak began.
The Clarksville Police Department wants your help to identify a suspect in a vehicle burglary. Officials said a silver SUV was seen in the parking lot of Loaves and Fishes on Crossland Ave at noon on February 11th. Police say a person then exited that vehicle and while concealing themselves, broke the driver’s side passenger window out of two different cars and stole the purses inside. The suspect then allegedly used the credit cards in those purses to purchase numerous gift cards. Call the Clarksville PD if you have any knowledge or video of the burglary.
