A Clarksville-Montgomery County School student is being charged with multiple crimes. The Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office said yesterday that during a search of the 18-year-old’s car at Kenwood High School last week, School Resource Officers found a gun, clip, ammunition, drugs, and drug paraphernalia. Deonta Deshawn Williams is charged with firearm possession, weapons on school property, and drug paraphernalia. MCSO says no threat of violence was made against the school.
Governor Bill Lee is outlining his budget and legislative priorities. During his fourth State of the State address before the General Assembly yesterday, Governor Lee proposed a nearly 57-billion-dollar budget for the fiscal year 2023. It includes investments in kindergarten through high school education, higher education, and improving Tennessee’s transportation infrastructure. Lee also said he wants to change the way education is funded, setting aside money for each student based on their individual needs.
The Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office raised $15,560 for five local charities as well as St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital with the Wooly Winter No-Shave Fundraiser. That’s where deputies were able to forego shaving for the months of November, December, and January by making a $100 donation. All proceeds from the fundraiser were divided equally among six charities. Montgomery County officials said deputies will have the opportunity to continue wearing their beards through the month of March.
Greenbrier Pizza and Pub held a fundraiser in honor of Robertson County sheriff’s deputy Savanna Puckett. Organizers said a portion of sales will cover funeral expenses for Puckett. Donations will also go to a scholarship in her name at the Robertson County Sheriff’s Office organized by Puckett‘s mother. Organizers say the event collected at least $1,500. Greenbrier Pizza and Pub will continue collecting donations through Sunday
