A murdered Robertson County Sheriff’s deputy is in her final resting place. A funeral service for Deputy Savanna Puckett was held at South Haven Baptist Church in Springfield on Saturday before the burial service at Springfield Memorial Gardens. Deputy Puckett was shot multiple times before being found in her burning home last Sunday night. Her ex-boyfriend has been charged with murder.
The Governor will give the annual State-of-the-State address tonight. It will be Governor Bill Lee’s fourth such address to state lawmakers. Governor Lee took office in 2019 and is running for a second term. The speech will air statewide, but can also be seen on Lee’s Facebook and YouTube pages starting at 6 o’clock Central Time.
Tennessee says it has romantic getaways for lovebirds this Valentine’s Day. The Tennessee Department of Environment and Conservation is offering dining specials and overnight packages at six state parks. Some Tennessee lawmakers want students to get more rest. The proposed legislation would prevent any public high school or middle school from starting classes in the 7 o’clock hour. HB1836 would ban high schools from classroom instruction before 8:30 in the morning. Middle schools would be allowed to start at 8 o’clock.
All of the problems without all the snow. A winter storm that blasted the Northeast is impacting Nashville. FlightAware shows more than 30 flights were canceled at Nashville International Airport over the weekend. Flights leaving BNA for New York, Boston, and Chicago made up most of the cancellations. Thousands of flights across the country were impacted.
The 101st Airborne Division is increasing its readiness to deploy. Fort Campbell says other Army units in the U.S. and Europe are also on a heightened preparedness to deploy in support of NATO and the security of Americans abroad.
