Residents in White House will be doling out a little more for City property taxes when the rate increases by more than 24 percent for the 2021-22 fiscal year. The current property tax rate is $1.036, per $100 of assessed property value. City leaders voted last week on second reading to raise that rate to $1.286, effective July 1.  City Administrator Gerald Herman says the increased tax rate is for the City to complete some huge projects that have been planned for a while.

The upcoming 4th of July weekend is another reminder that the blood shortage in Tennessee is critical.  Holidays are the prime time for crashes and with a million Tennesseans taking to the roads next week the American Red Cross of Tennessee is putting out a plea for blood donations.  Officials also say there is a high demand from hospitals for blood as many patients put off care during the pandemic and are now dealing with more advanced medical issues.
