Funeral services are set for a Robertson County Sheriff’s Office deputy found dead in her home.  Visitation for Deputy Savanna Puckett will be held from 4 o’clock this afternoon until 8 in the evening and again from 11 o’clock tomorrow morning until 2 in the afternoon.  Puckett’s celebration of life will follow immediately after tomorrow’s visitation with all three events held at South Haven Baptist Church in Springfield and livestreamed on the Robertson County Sheriff’s Office Facebook page.  Puckett was found murdered in her burning Springfield-area home on Sunday night with multiple gunshot wounds.

Tennessee healthcare workers are under a federal mandate to be vaccinated against COVID-19.  Yesterday was the deadline for healthcare professionals to get their first dose.  It’s part of the Biden Administration’s requirement to vaccinate those on the front lines.  The plan was to vaccinate all employees at large businesses, but the Supreme Court prevented the plan, limiting it to only healthcare workers.

Some Tennessee lawmakers want students to get more rest.  The proposed legislation would prevent any public high school or middle school from starting classes in the 7 o’clock hour.  HB1836 would ban high schools from classroom instruction before 8:30 in the morning.  Middle schools would be allowed to start at 8 o’clock.

Law enforcement agencies in Wilson County are expanding the use of license plate readers.  Mount Juliet police have used the readers since 2020 and recently added more.  Lebanon police started using the technology this year.  Belle Meade, Brentwood, Franklin, Gallatin, and Hendersonville are other Mid-State communities with license plate readers.  Opponents of their use say the technology raises privacy concerns, especially for people of color.

The 101st Airborne Division is increasing its readiness to deploy.  Fort Campbell says other Army units in the U.S. and Europe are also on a heightened preparedness to deploy in support of NATO and the security of Americans abroad.
