Authorities say they have captured a minimum-security trustee who walked away from a work detail in Robertson County last week.  Officials confirmed yesterday that 37-year-old Jonathon Wayne Ferrell was arrested over the weekend in Montgomery County.  Ferrell was serving a sentence for probation violation and domestic assault when he left his detail at the county landfill on West County Farm Road last Tuesday.  Police say Ferrell is now facing additional escape charges.

The Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency’s annual winter trout stocking continues in waters across the state.  Some 75,000 rainbow trout have been released and are ready for catching. No fishing license or trout license is required for anglers 12 and younger. A Type 002 license is available for youngsters 13-15.  For everyone else, an annual Sportsman’s License or Lifetime License covers all requirements.

The Federal Trade Commission is warning people to watch for fake COVID-19 testing kits being sold online.  As demand for testing continues to increase and supply is shortening across the area, people are turning to online marketplaces for at-home kits.  This is not only a waste of money but could also lead to patients unknowingly spreading the virus or not receiving proper treatment if needed.  A quick online search for FDA-approved tests will help eliminate the chances of getting a bogus kit.

Lebanon Police say blank COVID-19 vaccination cards were found while searching a vehicle during a recent drug bust in the city.  According to reports, the Lebanon Police Department used License Plate Recognition technology to stop the suspect who was driving a stolen car.  In addition to the blank vaccination cards, officers found fake negative and positive COVID test result forms, fentanyl, cocaine, cash, and more.  The suspect is facing multiple charges. 

The Gallatin community and students and staff at Gallatin High School are mourning the loss of head girls’ basketball coach Jerry Landers.  Coach Landers’ family announced his passing Sunday from complications from COVID-19.  The family confirmed that Landers was on a ventilator and that other family members had recently tested positive for COVID-19.  Landers was in his fifth season as head coach after four previous seasons as an assistant
