Police have opened an investigation after a crash and a report of shots fired late last night in the Britton Springs area on Caskey Dr. between Evans Rd. and Batts Lane in Clarksville.  Officials say all individuals involved are believed to have been accounted for, with no suspects at large.  The investigation is still underway.

Police in Springfield needs your help finding a person they say carjacked an elderly woman on Tuesday. Police say Jacob Brannon Patton had just been discharged from TriStar NorthCrest Medical Center when he approached a woman in the parking lot, convinced her to roll her window down, then forced her from the car. He then drove off in the woman’s white Toyota Camry.  If you know where Patton is, call the Springfield Police.

The Mid-State is expected to be hit with more severe weather today.  The main threats are expected to be damaging winds, possible spin-up tornadoes, and localized flooding.  The National Weather Service in Nashville says the potentially severe storms will mainly impact areas south of I-40.  The storms are expected to hit between 2 o’clock this afternoon and 8 o’clock tonight.

There are nearly 65-hundred new coronavirus cases in Tennessee.  The Tennessee Department of Health reported the new cases yesterday, bringing the total since the outbreak began to one-million-388-thousand.  130 additional COVID-19-related deaths were also reported, with the total number standing at 21-thousand.  There are 12-hundred COVID-19 hospitalizations in Tennessee.

The Tennessee Highway Patrol is announcing its safety enforcement plan for the New Year’s Eve holiday period.  THP says starting Friday evening State Troopers will go on traffic patrol, including doing seat belts, driver’s licenses, and sobriety checks.  The plan will end on Sunday, January 2nd at midnight.  THP says nine people were killed in eight traffic crashes during the holiday last year and over 100 people were arrested for drunk driving.
