Beginning on Jan. 1st, the Robertson County Wheel Tax Reimbursement Program for the elderly will go into effect.  Owners of vehicles subject to the Robertson County Wheel Tax who are aged 65 or older can apply for a refund of $43. All required documentation, including vehicle registration or renewal of it, paid within the previous 30 days, along with the completed reimbursement application must be submitted to the county trustee office for review and approval.  Other criteria include proof of identification, proof of all household income not to exceed $25,000 annually, and proof of payment in full of Robertson County vehicle registration.

TriStar Health is implementing one visitor-only policy at all of its facilities over surging COVID-19 cases.  Some of TriStar’s facilities already had the policy in place.  Children under 12-years-old won’t be allowed in TriStar facilities, while patients will be allowed two visitors, and end-of-life circumstances will be discussed on a case-by-case basis.

An unusually warm December is coming to an end.  Robertson County has had 19 days above 60 degrees.  Several of those days were 70 degrees or higher.  It’s expected to be the third warmest December on record with an average temperature of just under 52 degrees.

Authorities are investigating the discovery of skeletal human remains found in Maury County yesterday.  According to reports, the remains were found in an area near Southport Road and Mt. Pleasant.  The remains have been sent to the state crime lab for identification.  Anyone with information about the remains is asked to contact the Maury County Sheriff’s Office..  

If you have to fly anywhere today you may want to call ahead. 600-plus flights have already been canceled across the nation with 350 others delayed. The holiday travel nightmare began Christmas Eve and hasn’t let up since. Most airlines blame the COVID surge for staffing shortages.
