Springfield Parks and Recreation’s Winter Wonderland is back. This year’s event at J. Travis Price Park runs nightly from 5:30 to 9 p.m until Thursday, Dec. 23.  Traditionally,  visitors view the lights on foot and walk through the park trails, but for the second year in a row, the event will be drive-through only. The city made the change last year due to the Covid pandemic and will continue it again this year.  On Friday and Saturday nights, visitors will have the opportunity to see Santa and Mrs. Claus and wave as they drive by.

A Middle Tennessee police department is doing what it can to help police in tornado-ravaged Mayfield, Kentucky.  The Lebanon Police Department sent three cruisers to police in Mayfield earlier this week.  The cars even had the Mayfield Police Department’s graphics on the cars when they arrived thanks to the Advance Signs and Graphics shop in Lebanon.  Lebanon police say they remember what it was like after their town was hit by tornadoes in March of 2020,

A couple of Cheatham County Sheriff’s Office deputies are lucky to be alive after riding out a tornado in their cruiser.  Video shows the road was barely visible as deputies Randall Smith and Joseph Wehrer tried to cross a bridge on Highway 70 in Kingston Springs early Saturday morning.  The deputies also had to clear downed trees and debris as they made their way to an important call.  They were among the first responders to get a call about a woman pinned under a trailer.

There are over 18-hundred new coronavirus cases in Tennessee.  The Tennessee Department of Health reported the new cases yesterday, bringing the total since the outbreak began to over one-million-341-thousand.  An additional 50 COVID-19-related deaths were also reported, with the total number standing at over 17-thousand-800.  There are more than one thousand COVID-19 hospitalizations in Tennessee.

FedEx says Christmas packages being sent by FedEx Ground or FedEx Home Delivery need to be shipped today.  Packages going via two-day delivery must be sent by December 22nd.  For overnight services, the deadline is December 23rd and the FedEx Same Day shipping deadline is December 24th.

The New Year means the elimination of vehicle emissions testing for five Tennessee counties.  Starting January 14th vehicle emissions testing ends for Hamilton, Sumner, Rutherford, Wilson, and Williamson counties.  In the Nashville-Davidson County area residents who register their vehicles in 2022 will still be required to complete vehicle emissions testing.
