At their November meeting, the County Commission opened the door for more methods in hiring architects or general contractors in building schools.  The resolution rescinded the hard bid method and allowed for negotiated or hybrid bids. That way you can work with the same contractor for multiple projects over time, and they’re part of the design process from the beginning.

Airports across Tennessee are prepared for the last day of the Thanksgiving travel period today.  Nashville International Airport officials went into the travel period expecting as much as an 80-percent surge compared to the same time last year.  Triple-A says over one-million-200 thousand Tennesseans were expected to travel over the holiday.

A Robertson County fire department is cleaning up from vandalism.  The White House Community Volunteer Fire Department was vandalized on Thanksgiving night.  Firefighters were out responding to a CPR and fire call when the crime happened.  The suspected vandal was in a maroon-colored Chevrolet Suburban.

Temple Baptist Church in White House has started a $5 million-plus building project that will include a new worship center to nearly double the seating capacity.  Temple Baptist’s worship center now seats about 450, and two services are needed to meet the congregation’s demands.  The new sanctuary will be about 20,000 square feet and seat about 850.  Temple Baptist is on Marlin Road near Highway 31W.

There was a  fire early Sunday morning at the Pembroke Park Apartments in Clarksville. Firefighters were able to quickly put water on the fire, keeping the fire from spreading to the adjacent apartments.  A resident of the apartment was hospitalized for smoke inhalation. The cause of the fire is under investigation.

FedEx is encouraging Robertson County shoppers to get their Christmas packages shipped as soon as possible.  The shipping giant says if you’re sending Christmas packages by FedEx Ground or FedEx Home Delivery they need to be shipped by December 15th.  Packages going via two day delivery must be sent by December 22nd.  For overnight services the deadline is December 23rd and the FedEx Same Day shipping deadline is Christmas Eve, December 24th.
