There are over eleven-hundred new coronavirus cases in Tennessee. The Tennessee Department of Health reported the new cases yesterday, bringing the total since the outbreak began to over one-million-290-thousand. Nearly 50 additional COVID-19-related deaths were also reported, with the total number standing at nearly 17-thousand. There are about 750 COVID-19 hospitalizations in Tennessee.
Oh, deer: November is the peak season for crashes involving deer as it’s the height of deer mating season. As of yesterday, there had been nearly 45-hundred deer-related crashes in Tennessee so far this year. Tennessee Department of Safety and Homeland Security data shows crashes involving deer more than triple statewide in November.
The COVID-19 mask mandate is over for Clarksville-Montgomery County Schools. The school board unanimously voted to end the mask mandate last evening. COVID cases have dropped significantly in the area in recent weeks. The temporary mask mandate had been in place since September 14th.
Tennessee officials have begun taking applications to fill a state Supreme Court seat left vacant by the death of Justice Cornelia Clark. The Governor’s Council for Judicial Appointments has set a deadline of midday Nov. 19 for applications to arrive at the Administrative Office of the Courts. Applicants must be at least 35 years of age, a resident of the state for five years and a resident of the Eastern or Middle Tennessee Grand Divisions. Apply online at tncourts.gov.
The Cheatham County School District is looking for bus drivers. District officials say they are at least 15 drivers short, which causes some routes to be cancelled. They add that many drivers have left seeking jobs in other districts or in other fields. In the county, first-year bus drivers make anywhere from 11-thousand-400-dollars to nearly 17-thousand-dollars depending on their part-time or full-time status. They are also eligible for bonuses throughout the year.
