Another round of wintry weather is on the way today and tomorrow and a Winter Storm Watch remains in effect from three this afternoon until six tomorrow night.  Light snow is possible tomorrow morning across the northwest but the bulk of accumulations start tomorrow night into Thursday. Travel may become difficult Thursday.

Robertson County Schools (including virtual) will be closed on today. Daycare will also be closed. Connexus students may continue working. District Office employees will be checking email regularly. The Robertson County Office Building on S Brown St opens at 10 today. But Robertson County Mayor Billy Vogle says because the weather is so changeable before heading out to the County Office Building, be sure to call ahead.

Springfield City Attorney Christina Bartee will continue serving in her role with the city, following a special-called meeting of the Board of Mayor and Aldermen.  Bartee, who is an attorney with the law firm of Batson Noland PLC, was chosen out of a pool of three candidates as part of the City’s policy of reviewing and rebidding the contractual position. As an attorney, Bartee has practiced law in the areas of real estate, social security disability, estate planning/probate, domestic, business/corporate and banking.

COVID-19 vaccination registration will expand soon.  The Tennessee Department of Health announced yesterday that registration for Tennesseans 65 and older and those in Phase 1b of the state’s COVID-19 Vaccination Plan will begin on Monday, February 22nd.  Phase 1b includes staff members of kindergarten through 12th grade schools and childcare facilities.

Many testing sites have been closed this week due to winter storms but with the information we have we know there were 962 new COVID-19 cases reported yesterday.  It’s the first time since October that the daily increase of new cases was below one thousand.
