The city of Greenbrier is once again asking the community to stop flushing wet wipes down the toilet. The City has spent over $6 million over the past few years on a sewer rehabilitation project to upgrade the dilapidated water basins, screens, and pumps required to filter the trash and debris out of the water systems. The flushable wipes are not biodegradable and continue to clog and burn up the new pumps. Each pump cost between $1,500 – $3,000. This cost will eventually cause an additional charge on each resident and business water/sewer bill if it doesn’t stop.

The Tennessee Department of Health is giving an update on the state’s response to COVID-19 and its vaccination process.  Health Commissioner Dr. Lisa Piercey gave the update yesterday after the state recently started offering vaccinations to Tennesseans 70 and older as part of phase 1a of the distribution plan.  Dr. Piercey says TDH was able to offer vaccinations to more Tennesseans thanks to an increased supply.  Piercey said she’s been told the state will continue to receive an increased number of doses for at least the next three weeks with another increase possible in the future..
