Former Portland Mayor Dan Jenkins is dead. His service to the Portland Community spanned more than 50 years. He was a member of the Portland City Council (twice) and served as Mayor of the City of Portland from 1997 to 2001.  Dan Jenkins was 80.

Two men were found shot dead in a running car parked near Central Avenue and Jarrett Street in Springfield on Friday. Meanwhile, police are continuing to investigate after another body was found parked in a vehicle at Tennessee Quick Cash in Springfield. Police said no foul play is suspected in that case and the two incidents are unrelated.

White House city leaders hope a new, planned roadway extending from a commercial area anchored by a Love’s Travel stop on Highway 76 will provide an alternative for motorists and spur development. Harper Way will extend from Loves Lane and connect to Union Road. It will span about 1,700 feet, and city leaders say it gives motorists a traffic light to access Highway 76. White House Director of Planning and Codes Ceagus Clark said there is also a development opportunity of land behind the Love’s Travel Stop. 

The Tennessee Department of Health reported two-thousand-841 new COVID-19 cases yesterday, bringing the total since the outbreak began to over 708-thousand-700.  An additional 40 COVID-19-related deaths were reported, bringing the total number of coronavirus-attributed deaths statewide to more than 88 hundred.  Some three thousand COVID-19 patients are hospitalized statewide. Robertson County has had 7,826 case since the pandemic started. 7,187 have recovered and 87 have died form COVID-19 in Robertson County

Alcohol and drugs remain big contributing factors in deadly boating accidents in Tennessee.  Initial statistics from the Wildlife Agency indicate around 30-percent of deadly boating crashes in 2020 involved drugs or alcohol.
