The Charlotte Reeves Robertson Daughters of the American Revolution Chapter has some National DAR Society Scholarship opportunities. They are in varying dollar amounts for different areas of study – for high school students going to college, and for graduate school and professional school programs. Interested students may check out information on the National DAR Society Scholarship website: dar.org. Applications must be submitted through the online portal, and a verified transcript from the applicant’s current school must be included. Applications will be accepted through Janu. 31st.
The Tennessee Department of Health is reporting record high coronavirus hospitalizations. 3,332 people were hospitalized with the virus as of Wednesday. Health officials say ICU bed availably was down to seven-percent. The total number of COVID-19-related deaths in the state tops seven-thousand-380.
Republican Senator Marsha Blackburn is calling the Trump supporting protestors in D.C. “truly despicable and unacceptable.” The Tennessee lawmaker tweeted yesterday “these protests are prohibiting us from doing our constitutional duty.” Lawmakers were working to certify the election results when pro-Trump protesters stormed the Capitol building. Senator-elect Bill Hagerty is also condemning the political unrest at the nation’s capital. He said, quote, “We are a nation of laws and this must stop.” Both Hagerty and Blackburn last week joined a coalition of Republican senators to oppose the Electoral College’s presidential election results.
