The driver of a pickup is recovering at NorthCrest Medical Center following a violent single-vehicle rollover crash near Cross Plains Tuesday evening.  Cross Plains Rd near W. Cook Rd was closed for about two hours while the Tennessee Highway Patrol investigated the crash and crews cleared the vehicle from the scene. No word on the cause of the crash

Greenbrier Police were dispatched to Dick Strong Memorial Park soccer fields Tuesday to checkout reports of someone on an ATV vandalizing the fields.  When officers attempted to stop the four-wheeler, the driver fled the scene to Old Greenbrier Pike. The four-wheeler was then spotted traveling through a homeowner’s front yard on Glennie Lee Drive. 43-year-old Jesse Oliphant of Greenbrier allegedly confessed to causing the damage at Dick Strong Memorial Park.  He was arrested and taken to the Robertson County Jail with bond set at $12,500.

Multiple venues across Tennessee are promising to return to live events in the safest way possible.  The “Tennessee Venue Pledge” is an effort led by the Nashville Predators and Bridgestone Arena.  A release issued yesterday says the Predators organization and others are pledging to protect their guests, performers and athletes during the ongoing coronavirus outbreak.  The Tennessee Titans and Nissan Stadium have also joined in the effort.

Cross Plains City Commissioner and Vice Mayor Jim Forrester is dead.  Forrester worked as a truck driver for 50 years and retired from Roadway Express. He had been a fixture in Robertson County, serving the community for many years. His death follows a long battle with cancer.   Jim Forrester was 79.

The Tennessee Department of Environment and Conservation is reminding residents that January is Radon Action Month.  People can get a free radon test kit for their home in order to check for it.  Radon is a colorless and odorless gas and is the second leading cause of lung cancer in the United States.  Radon test kits are available at the Tennessee Department of Environment and Conservation website.
