Robertson County Schools are starting 2021 with a nine-week hybrid learning model. Students will spend two days at school each week and three learning virtually on Microsoft Teams. Parents may also prefer to keep their students completely virtual. Kindergarten through fifth grade students will still meet in person, but parents may also choose a fully remote learning option.

Cross Plains City Commissioner and Vice Mayor Jim Forrester is dead.  Forrester worked as a truck driver for 50 years and retired from Roadway Express. He had been a fixture in Robertson County, serving the community for many years. His death follows a long battle with cancer.   Jim Forrester was 79.

The driver of a passenger vehicle is recovering after sustaining just minor injuries in a rollover crash on Buzzard Creek Rd near Cedar Hill Tennessee Monday evening. The road was closed for about an hour while the Tennessee Highway Patrol investigated the crash and officials cleared the vehicle from the roadway.  This cause of the crash is under investigation.

The number of deaths on Tennessee’s roads are up.  Last year was the deadliest for drivers in the state since 2007.  Data from the Tennessee Department of Safety and Homeland Security shows there were over 12-hundred traffic deaths on Tennessee roadways in 2020, the same number as 2007.  There were also over 170 pedestrians killed in Tennessee last year, up from about 150 in 2019.

The Tennessee Department of Environment and Conservation is reminding residents that January is Radon Action Month.  People can get a free radon test kit for their home in order to check for it.  Radon is a colorless and odorless gas and is the second leading cause of lung cancer in the United States.  Radon test kits are available at the Tennessee Department of Environment and Conservation website.
