One person is dead, another hospitalized, and a juvenile is in custody following a Thursday night shooting in Portland.  Portland Police are investigating the shooting that occurred y just before 3 p.m. at a home on William Mack Lane. That is where they found 37-year-old Brandi Ladd, and 42-year-old John Heath both with gunshot wounds.  Heath was transported to Vanderbilt Medical Center.  H e is listed in stable condition. Ladd was pronounced deceased at Tri-Star Portland Emergency Room. Police would only identify the suspected gunman as juvenile who had occasionally shared the victims’ house. He faces numerous charges and is being held pending a detention hearing.

The City of Springfield’s annual holiday lights tradition continues this year but will look different due to COVID-19. Viewing is limited to drive-through only at J. Travis Price Park from 5:30 p.m. to 9:00 p.m through December 23rd.   Winter Wonderland presented by the Springfield Parks & Recreation Department is a display of thousands of lights and more than a dozen holiday scenes.

Country Music Legend Dolly Parton says she’s heartbroken by the passing of Charley Pride.  Pride died at age 86 on Saturday from complications of COVID-19.  He was one of only three African American members of the Grand Ole Opry and the first African American member of the Country Music Hall of Fame.  Parton said it’s even worse to know Pride passed away from coronavirus.

A Chinese business group is not happy with comments from Senator Marsha Blackburn.  The Tennessee Chinese American Alliance is calling on Blackburn to apologize for her Twitter comments posted earlier this month.  The group also protested Saturday at Nashville Public Square.  The Senator tweeted on December 3rd,  “China has a five-thousand year history of cheating and stealing. Some things will never change….”  Blackburn’s office says the Senator will keep bringing attention to the “Chinese Communist Party’s abhorrent civil rights violations and national security threats.”
