A suspect accused of shooting a man is behind bars after the Ashland City Police Department arrested him. According to the Metro Nashville Police Department (MNPD), the victim was robbed and shot in the chest over a pair of shoes. Police later identified one of the alleged shooters as 21-year-old Malik Guy, who was arrested months after the robbery and shooting incident. The arrest occurred on Thursday, October 10 at the plant where Guy worked. Guy was charged with attempted criminal homicide, especially aggravated robbery and reckless endangerment with a deadly weapon.
Sumner County could get a vital opioid addiction resource at one of its main hospitals. The county commission will decide whether to fund a “navigator” inside Highpoint Health in Gallatin, among other opioid initiatives around the county. A “navigator” works in essence as a mediator between someone seeking recovery, and the resources that are available for them. This comes at a time when overdose numbers are getting worse in Sumner County, according to a local substance abuse center.
Thousands of dollars in LEGO sets were stolen from a Mt. Juliet Walmart over the weekend. All three suspects were arrested and booked into the Wilson County Jail. Mt. Juliet police, in 2023 there were 72 reports of shoplifting cases from April to September. In 2024 that number rose to 118. It’s a trend we are seeing here in Middle Tennessee and across the country. Just over a year ago, Franklin Police captured this video of suspects allegedly stealing $1,500 in LEGO sets. All three suspects were booked into the Wilson County Jail. LEGO sets from Disney, Transformers, to Harry Potter were recovered in the trunk.
It’s nearly late October and most of the trees are still green. According to Explore Fall, we currently see low color across the region. The latest forecast is for our peak fall colors to arrive a little later than normal. Explore Fall has middle Tennessee seeing peak colors after the first week in November.
