Tennessee has changed driver’s licenses and photo identification card designs. The cards have a “fresh design” and improved security features. They now prominently feature an image of the Tennessee Capitol building on top of the state’s Tri-Star flag. Commissioner Jeff Long says the Licenses incorporate the latest technology, making them more difficult to counterfeit, alter, or duplicate to help prevent theft and fraud and help keep identities safe.

A man suspected of public intoxication was tackled on the front lawn of the Ashland City Police Department. 62-year-old Juan Garcia Jr. troubles with the law go back decades. Pages of records out of Cheatham County include charges ranging from driving on a revoked license to resisting arrest. According to investigators, police were first notified about Garcia by a woman who drove the allegedly intoxicated man to the department’s front lawn Police spoke with her once Garcia was arrested. She told authorities that she was sorry for having to take him there. Garcia is being held in the Cheatham County jail on charges of resisting arrest and disorderly conduct. His next court date has been scheduled for September 11.

A man has been arrested in Warren County, Tennessee for charges related to a woman’s death. Joshua Wayne Goff was arrested for abuse of corpse and tampering with evidence regarding the death of Rebecca Maxfield of Smithville. Maxfield was reported missing around Aug. 4, 2024. Her body was found on Aug. 15 by a Warren County investigator inside a vehicle located in a DeKalb County corn field. Goff was taken into custody Monday and booked into the Warren County Jail under a $60,000 bond. He will appear before General Sessions Judge Ryan J. Moore for arraignment. The investigation into Maxfield’s death is ongoing.
