If you’re on the roads in Brentwood over the next week, you may come across a small car driving around with cameras. The city of Brentwood is partnering with StreetScan, a Massachusetts-based company that assesses streets across the country, including Brentwood in 2021. The 3D cameras and a sensor system detect road defects, such as potholes, bumps, and cracks. The company then uses the data collected to give the city a score, allowing them to know which areas need the most attention.

Springfield PD is taking applications for the Citizens Police Academy. The free, nine-week program will be held on Thursdays from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. starting Sept. 12. at the Springfield Police Department, 802 Willow Street. To apply, complete the application online at springfieldtn.gov/police

A Hendersonville man was found guilty on 54 counts related to sexual exploitation of a minor on Tuesday. In November 2022, Hendersonville detectives executed a search warrant at Jay Chandler’s residence and seized numerous electronic devices. Assistant District Attorney General Nathan Nichols said that a search of those devices “revealed thousands of images depicting the sexual abuse of children.” Sumner County Judge Dee David Gay found Chandler guilty as charged. He faces a potential sentence of up to 416 years.

Tennessee Wildlife Federation’s 10th Annual Wildlife and Landscape Photo Contest is open for submissions until Aug. 31, 2024. Photographers of all skill levels are invited to share their perspectives of Tennessee’s wildlife and wild places and to join the Federation in highlighting the importance of conservation. Police in Hendersonville are on the lookout for two alleged auto thieves. Based on fingerprints found inside a stolen car, authorities developed two names. One of the suspects has a violent criminal history out of Nashville. Hendersonville Police shared a video showing the suspects driving multiple stolen vehicles. Those fingerprints led police to announce 21-year-olds Terrain Johnson and Anthony Chambers as the prime suspects in the case. The two are being charged with two counts of theft of a motor vehicle over $10,000 and one count of attempted theft over $10,000.
