A search is underway for a suspect who fled a hit-and-run crash in Mt. Juliet Friday afternoon. The four-vehicle crash happened on South Mt. Juliet Road near Graves Crossing at 4:30 p.m. Mt. Juliet police described the incident as an “injury crash” but no details were provided on how many people were injured nor how severely. The suspect has been identified as 21-year-old Donte Bell Jr. of Nashville. Bell fled from the crash scene and abandoned his vehicle on Central Pike near John Wright Road. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Mt. Juliet Police Department.

Students will soon return to school in Sumner County, but the district has not yet set a budget for the new year. School leaders said they need more money, but county commissioners refuse. Sumner County Schools and county commissioners are $5.4 million apart on budget talks. The money, which would reportedly come from capital funds, would be directed towards staff pay raises and upgrades to athletic facilities. A special county commission meeting on this discussion is set for Monday, August 12.

He then forced another employee to open the safe. As he made his way out, the robber turned around and fired a shot, hitting the woman in the abdomen. Police believe the gunman is the same person who robbed the Dollar General at 1801 Antioch Pike on July 12.
