A motorcyclist in Clarksville is killed in a traffic accident on Ted Crozier Sr. Boulevard at Weatherly Drive just before 9:30 p.m. Saturday night. He went to Tennova Healthcare in Clarksville for his injuries before he died. The Clarksville police say the victim’s name is not being released until the family is notified.

Members of an extremist group marched through the streets of downtown Nashville Saturday afternoon. Dozens of men in blue shirts and khakis, covering their faces with white cloths, and sunglasses, and wearing baseball caps marched around downtown Nashville. They continued to march through downtown with a “Reclaim America” banner, American flags, and a Confederate flag, and passing out flyers while chanting on their way to the front of the Capitol. Some also held red, white, and blue shields. They also spray-painted their logo under the Woodland St. Bridge, which is vandalism.

The Cheatham County School District is accepting applications for our Pre-K program for the 2024-2025 school year. Cheatham County Schools offer Pre-K at Ashland City Elementary STEM Academy, East Cheatham Elementary School, Pegram Elementary Fine Arts Magnet School, and West Cheatham Elementary School. Application packets are available at all elementary schools, the Cheatham County Board of Education at 102 Elizabeth Street in Ashland City, or on the CCS website

Picnic season is here, and the FDA has safe food handling tips when eating outdoors. They recommend keeping cold food cold, organizing cooler contents with beverages in one cooler and perishable foods in another, and not cross-contaminating. Also keep raw meat, poultry, and seafood securely wrapped.

The state’s sales tax holiday on clothing, school supplies, and computers is near. From 12:01 a.m. on Friday, July 26, Tennesseans can get some shopping relief until 11:59 p.m. on Sunday, July 28.
