An autopsy report for a Fort Campbell Soldier has been released after she was found dead at a Clarksville apartment complex on May 18. 23-year-old Pfc. Katia Duenas-Aguilar, a soldier originally from Mesquite, Texas was found inside of a residence on Tiny Town Road. An autopsy report revealed Duenas-Aguilar was found with 68 sharp force injuries on her body, predominantly in the neck. Her official cause of death was sharp force injuries to the neck, and the manner of death was ruled a homicide. The report also noted that Duenas-Aguilar had a blood alcohol content of .161. GHB, one of what are commonly called date rape drugs was also found in her system. The Clarksville Police Department is working with Army Criminal Investigation Agents on the case, although CPD remains the lead investigative agency. No arrests have been announced.

A former school nurse at Clarksville’s Northeast High School, who had already pleaded guilty to federal charges, was booked for 99 state charges related to child pornography. 43-year-old Leon B. Hensley was extradited from federal prison to face these charges. He was booked in the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office on June 7. Hensley will be prosecuted by the state for the same crimes that he pleaded guilty to in federal court, according to his indictments. His arraignment is set for July 8.

Clarksville will celebrate July 4th on July 3 at Liberty Park. The event will be free and open to the public. The park will open at 5 p.m., with activities and music beginning at 6:30 p.m. The evening will conclude with the fireworks show at 9:10 p.m. On Thursday, July 4, there will be festivities on both ends of Cheatham County. From 7 a.m.-9 a.m., Pegram United Methodist Church, located at 479 Thompson Road, will host its annual Fourth of July breakfast in Pegram. Breakfast plates start at $5. Pegram will then have its annual Fourth of July parade at 10 a.m., then will host its annual Fourth of July celebration at Pegram Park, at the intersection of Highway 70 and Thompson Road, all day, with live music, kids activities, food trucks with food for purchase, and a fireworks display at nightfall.

In case you missed it: The Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency participates in Operation Dry Water, a year-round boating under the influence and enforcement campaign. ODW’s heightened awareness and enforcement annually occur around the July 4th holiday. The combined efforts of the participating law enforcement agencies will result in removing impaired operators from the state’s waterways, providing a safe and enjoyable experience for boaters.
