A Clarksville man has been charged with aggravated assault Saturday night on a first responder. The Robertson County Sheriff’s Office initiated a traffic stop Saturday afternoon for a potentially stolen vehicle. at the Dollar General in Ridgetop. The suspect, 22-year-old Timothy Scott, reportedly struck two Robertson County patrol vehicles, crashing near mile marker 97 on Interstate 65. Deputies worked with the Greenbrier Police Department, the Goodlettsville Police Department, and the Tennessee Highway Patrol, are currently working with the District Attorney on additional charges.

A man wanted for stealing fireworks was arrested on Sunday. The Sumner County sheriff’s office said an employee at MAD Fireworks on Hartsville Pike called early Sunday morning reporting a theft in progress. Despite the employee’s efforts, the sheriff’s office said the suspect had stolen fireworks worth thousands of dollars. Police have identified the prime suspect as Jacob Long, who was taken into custody on Sunday. Long had two active warrants for vehicle burglaries and now faces charges of theft over $2,500, aggravated burglary, reckless endangerment

A Sumner County judge has ruled that an embattled Millersville city attorney cannot represent the town’s mayor in an ouster suit that accuses the mayor of misconduct. Chancellor Louis W. Oliver III ruled Friday that attorney Bryant Kroll has a conflict of interest in his representation of Mayor Tommy Long. Kroll has repeatedly insisted that he did not see anything improper about his representation of his clients. Under the chancellor’s order, Mayor Tommy Long will have 15 days to find new counsel for his ouster suit.

The Portland Senior Center will celebrate its 50th anniversary between 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. Wednesday at its new location at 108 Main Street. The center was presented a City of Portland Proclamation by Mayor Mike Callis at the June 17Board of Mayor and Alderman meeting praising it for its caring treatment of the areas Senior Citizens
