Authorities say what could be an explosive was found inside a vehicle picked up from a Clarksville scrap yard Wednesday morning. Clarksville police say they got a 911 call about a small black bag with what appeared to be a fuse coming out of it inside a vehicle the caller had just picked up from a used car lot. The Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office Bomb Squad said they “conducted render-safe procedures so the device is no longer a threat.”

A man was injured after striking a deer during a motorcycle ride on Monday night in Robertson County. The biker was on New Hall Road near I-65 and sustained an ankle injury in the process. The deer’s condition is unknown…

Employees of a Sumner County food pantry said they are “overwhelmed” with the number of children they’re feeding this year. Now, Hands of Hope Pantry in Portland is asking for donations to keep its summer program going. They’re averaging at least 200 children per Saturday who come and get the food bags for the week. If you’d like to donate to Hands of Hope, you can either stop by the store off South Russell Street in Portland or visit its website.

It’s National Pollinator Week and the Tennessee Department of Transportation is giving people the chance to help monarch butterflies. TDOT is giving away free milkweed seeds to all Tennessee residents who want to get involved. The seeds are given away through TDOT’s Pollinator Program, which aims to protect the monarch butterfly. Those who want to order seeds can do so at tnpollinators.org.

Several road projects in Mt. Juliet are either wrapping up or about to begin. This week, construction was completed on the Willoughby Station roundabout. Three other projects recently received the green light through the Tennessee Department of Transportation’s 10-year plan, including the Central Pike Interchange, which would be a new exit off Interstate 40.
