Springfield Police Department has announced the addition of a new public safety observation tower, made possible through a grant. The observation tower will be deployed at various city events, including 1st Fridays and Freedom Fest, ensuring a safe environment for all attendees. The observation tower will also be used in other public safety operations, such as any emergency event or for areas that may require saturated crime prevention techniques.

Wilson County is now among a handful of counties across the nation to recognize emergency dispatchers as first responders. During its regular meeting Monday evening, the Wilson County Board of County Commissioners unanimously passed a resolution reclassifying the position. The decision is part of a recent push to more properly reflect the duties of 911 dispatchers as they are currently classified as “clerical staff” under federal guidelines.

A Wilson County woman has been on a wild ride since ordering a TV from Walmart for home delivery. Christina Shearer caught her delivery man stealing her TV seconds after delivering it. What should have been an open-and-shut case still isn’t entirely resolved. Shearer wants two things, she wants her TV back and she wants the thief brought to justice

At each facility, Cheatham County Central, Sycamore, and Harpeth High Schools debuted digital signs last week. Cheatham County Schools called the signs a welcome addition that allows the schools to share important news and information with students, families, and the community.

Juneteenth is now recognized as an official state holiday in Tennessee. On May 5, 2023, Governor Bill Lee signed a bill into law that would recognize Juneteenth as an official holiday. All state offices will close on June 19th to celebrate the holiday.
