A country musician who wrote a chart-topping song is dead.  Ray Pennington died yesterday in a fire at his Sumner County home.  Pennington wrote “I’m A Ramblin’ Man,” which was a hit for Waylon Jennings.  Pennington was 86.

Over two-thousand new coronavirus cases are being reported in Tennessee.  The Tennessee Department of Health reported two-thousand-80 new cases yesterday, bringing the total since the outbreak began to over 207-thousand.  Over 20 additional COVID-19-related deaths were also reported.  There have been more than 26-hundred deaths attributed to the coronavirus in Tennessee since the outbreak began. Robertson County has had 2,336 cases since the start of the outbreak, 2,190 have recovered and 38 have died from COVID-19 in Robertson County.

An age progression photo of a missing Dickson County boy is being released.  Joe Clyde Daniels disappeared from his family’s home on April 4th, 2018 when he was five-years old.  A flyer being circulated by his grandparents shows what he might look like today at eight-years of age.  His father Joseph previously said he beat the boy to death but has since recanted his story. 

There’s more help for Robertson County’s small businesses recovering from the impact of the coronavirus.  Governor Bill Lee and the Financial Stimulus Accountability Group are making 50-million dollars in federal coronavirus relief funds available through a new Supplemental Employer Recovery Grant.  The program is specifically meant to support minority-owned, women-owned and veteran-owned businesses, as well as those owned by people with disabilities.  Governor Lee says small businesses are the backbone of the economy and supporting them is a core mission of the Financial Stimulus Accountability Group. 

The Springfield Parks & Recreation Department has partnered with Walmart of Springfield to bring free, family-friendly movies to two Springfield parks. It’s part of the new series the city of Springfield is calling, Free Movie Fridays. The October movie will be The Addams Family. It will be shown on the 16th at Martin Luther King Jr. Park. Concessions will be on site. Bring your bug spray, lounge chairs, and blanket. The movie will be on the soccer field.
