As crews assisted on day 12 of the search for missing Missouri student Riley Strain, the Tennessee Wildlife Resource Agency offered up boat patrols to look through various areas of the Cumberland River. On Wednesday, the TWRA launched one of its boats from the Rock Harbor Marina. The TWRA said they are also patrolling the river for any personal watercraft looking to assist with the search to ensure those efforts are being done safely and not interfering with law enforcement.

At least two townhomes were damaged by fire at the Smith Springs Townhomes on Wednesday evening, Nashville Fire Department officials said. Crews were dispatched just after 6 p.m. to the units in the 3400 block of Anderson Road after a resident heard a boom and a hissing sound. One resident was inside the unit at the time of the fire. At least two units were affected and at least five people were displaced.

Last year, the Clarksville Montgomery County school system sued social media companies like TikTok, Instagram, Facebook, Snapchat, and others for their role in the mental health issues students who use those platforms face. Now, nearly 3 dozen school systems in Tennessee have joined similar lawsuits, including Metro Nashville Schools, Wilson County Schools, and Lincoln County Schools. The lawsuit asks for controls for student access to social media platforms, as it says social media companies have a responsibility to protect children.

After the explosive sex scandal inside the LaVergne police department in 2023, LaVergne city leaders voted 4 to 1 to pay former police officer Maegan Hall $500,000. The settlement, which includes no admission of guilt on the city’s behalf, settles Hall’s lawsuit against the city and three of her former superiors. The City says their insurance provider will pay the $500,000 to Hall as a gross settlement, which includes court costs, attorneys fees, and expenses.
