The political unrest in Millersville continues after allegations that an open records request of an employee’s personnel file may have led to hacking their bank account. Interim City Manager Tina Tobin brought up the open records request issue during a commission meeting Monday night, calling it a “privacy violation.” Tobin clarified the bank account of the employee whose personnel file was released according to the open records request was hacked around the same time the open records request was filled.

When Tennessee’s House Government Operations (Gov Ops) Committee debates a bill, they cannot completely kill or pass it. Instead, they can offer a positive or negative recommendation. At least, that’s the common thought. House Majority Leader William Lamberth of Portland gave it a neutral recommendation Lawmakers will still debate the food tax bill in the full Senate Finance Committee next week, but a negative recommendation is essentially a death sentence moving forward. Republicans say the budget isn’t there for the cut this year.

A woman faces a felony charge after allegedly carjacking a former coworker. Police were called to Briley Parkway West at Brick Church Pike for a carjacking. The victim told officers she ran into a former coworker, Keyosha Simpson, at a Kentucky casino who asked for a ride back to Nashville. The victim said Simpson grabbed her from behind grabbed the victim from behind and refused to leave the vehicle. After a brief struggle, the victim left the car to call police, and Simpson drove off in the victim’s car. Simpson was found and booked into Metro Jail.

The Tennessee Valley Authority is opening its public campgrounds for the season on March 15. Six campgrounds across Tennessee can be used for the day or overnight. Camping and RVing numbers have increased since 2020, according to Clay Guerry, the Recreation Strategy Specialist for TVA. In 2022, 130,000 visitors camped at TVA campgrounds. Camping reservations opened on December 1st, and 85% of the capacity for the season is already filled.
