Three inmates who escaped from the Sumner County Jail last week have been placed back into custody. William Rutherford, Kenneth Campbell, and Elvis Bush escaped at around 9:30 p.m. on Feb. 29. Bush was located hours after the escape and was back in custody just before 2 a.m. on Friday. Rutherford and Campbell were captured Saturday morning at a Dollar General in Wilson County.
A bad Saturday in Clarksville: two crashes with injuries on Merriweather Road. At least one person was injured. The first crash was reported at 5:59 p.m. and the second at 6:01. The crashes closed parts of Merriweather Road and Oakland Road for a while. Officials are still working to determine if the two crashes are related.
Tennessee National Guard soldiers are deploying to the U.S. Southern border to provide critical support to help stop rising crime, drug trafficking, and human trafficking. Governor Bill Lee visited the soldiers on Saturday at the Millington Tennessee Army National Guard Armory ahead of their deployment to Texas. This is the first deployment of approximately 50 Tennessee National Guard members who volunteered to join “Operation Lone Star.”
The body of a missing 44-year-old woman, who was last seen two weeks ago, was found Saturday in Whites Creek. Metro police say the remains of Emily Bradley were found in the creek near Buena Vista Pike on Saturday, March 2. The Medical Examiner’s Office reported the cause of death appears to be blunt force trauma. a lead investigator on the case says Bradley was last seen on Feb. 18 in East Nashville by a male companion.
An investigation is underway after a man was reportedly shot on Interstate 24 in Antioch early Friday morning. Metro police say the victim was shot in the arm and was taken to an area hospital for treatment. The severity of his injuries was not released. The victim reportedly told investigators he was shot by a man wearing a hood and driving a black sedan on I-24
