One man is dead and another man is in jail after a Saturday night shooting in Cheatham County. 24-year-old Ty Mullins was shot dead and detectives say 25-year-olf Caleb Watkins is the shooter. Watkins is in jail under a $300,000 bond. He’s due in court next Wednesday.
A Nashville man who is on parole was arrested in Mt. Juliet Wednesday after he was found in possession of several dangerous drugs. The 38-year-old man from Nashville, had four outstanding felony warrants for violations of the sex offender registry. In addition, he was found in possession of suspected fentanyl, heroin, cocaine, counterfeit oxycodone pills and marijuana.
Tennessee State University is getting a grant to help lead the way to combat maternal mortality. The school is receiving a five year grant of $2.3 million to research maternal health disparities. TSU is one of 15 HBCU’s getting this grant from the U.S. Health Resources and Services Administration, or HRSA, to establish research centers and address what TSU’s public health director calls an “urgent need for action.”
The Counseling Center, a trusted provider of professional pastoral care and counseling in Middle Tennessee, recently announced the future opening of its third location at Springfield First United Methodist Church on Nov. 15. The new office at First United Methodist Church in Springfield will offer the same high-quality services that have made The Counseling Center a trusted resource in the Nashville area.
Middle Tennessee TV viewers can look forward to fresh programming soon. The union representing hundreds of film and television actors has agreed in principle to a deal with producers. The four-month strike brought the industry to a standstill. SAG-AFTRA said details would be made public after a meeting on Friday where board members review the contract.
