First responders in multiple Middle Tennessee counties spent their Sunday battling various blazes, including brush fires and structure fires. The Nashville Fire Department (NFD) said it responded to reports of a brush fire along Gourley Road, near the Cheatham County-Davidson County line.. Down near the Alabama border, the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office said members of the North Franklin Volunteer Fire Department were battling a woodland blaze in the 1400 block of Little Hurricane Road Sunday. Lawrence County Fire and Rescue said it was dispatched to a report of a brush fire on Railroad Road around 5:05 a.m. And Williamson County Fire/Rescue said its crews fought a structure fire that turned into a brush fire in the Grassland area. A barn off Manley Lane reportedly caught on fire and then the flames spread into the surrounding fields due to the dry conditions.
No serious injuries were reported after a motorcyclist and a passenger car crashed on Memorial Boulevard in Springfield on Saturday morning. The crash left the motorcycle with heavy damage but the rider had only minor injuries. The people inside the car were not injured.
Check your freezer. Tyson Foods is recalling about 30,000 pounds of chicken nuggets. Specifically, the recall is for the 29-ounce plastic bag packages containing frozen, but fully cooked breaded nuggets that are shaped like dinosaurs with a Best Used By date of Sept. 4, 2024. On Saturday, the company said it was voluntarily pulling the nuggets after some people reported finding small pieces of metal inside the patties. The chicken was sold in a number of states including California, Illinois, Michigan, Tennessee and Virginia.
Tennesseans are being urged to pick up their trash this month with the third annual “No Trash November” campaign. The month-long statewide initiative launched by the Tennessee Department of Transportation (TDOT) aims to clear up to 50,000 pounds of litter this month from roadways across the state. Last year, the agency reported that over 1,300 volunteers collected more than 48,000 pounds of litter from 95 events that were held during November.
