A former state corrections officer was sentenced Wednesday to two years in prison after he pleaded guilty to assaulting an inmate in a holding cell at the Trousdale Turner Correctional Facility in Hartsville. After serving his time in prison, Kenan Lister will have two years of supervised release. In April 2022, Lister pleaded guilty to two civil rights offenses related to the Aug. 30, 2019, assault.
A new bylaw from the Tennessee Secondary School Athletic Association (TSSAA) states that schools could be fined a minimum of $250 if a fan is ejected for unsportsmanlike conduct. Now, a Tennessee school system says it will be banning fans whose behavior results in a fine to the school until they’re reimbursed. On Tuesday, Wayne County Schools took to Facebook to let fans know that if you cause the school system to get a fine, they’ll be banned until they pay the school back for said fine.
According to the state’s wildfire tracker more than two dozen wildfires have been reported in parts of Tennessee this week. Many of those wildfires have occurred on the Cumberland Plateau, which is classified as an area experiencing an “extreme drought.” Two fires happened in Franklin County on Wednesday, though both have been contained.
