Multiple people were injured after reports of an explosion in Ashland City. The explosion was felt Wednesday afternoon and rocks appeared in the middle of the highway and in a nearby parking lot of Caymas Boats, on Highway 12. A Cheatham County fire official on scene said four people were injured, but have since been treated and released. Officials also said the roof and rear of the manufacturing facility sustained significant damage, as did some cars in the parking lot. Witnesses say there was rock blasting at an adjacent property that caused the damage and injuries.
A Giles County businessman, whose store was just shut down for being a “public nuisance” could be facing even more serious charges. The shutdown of the Honeysuckle Market in Pulaski comes after months of investigation into the alleged sale of vapes and alcohol to underage buyers. D.A. Brent Cooper claims 53-year-old Adel Basta had been receiving shipments of THC vapes from California through the US Mail. He said some products, with 88% THC were kept at his home.
An investigation is underway after a contract worker died by suicide inside a building on the campus of Middle Tennessee State University in Murfreesboro. The school notified staff and students Peck Hall would be closed for the day but there is no threat to the community. MTSU Police Chief Edwin Kaup said the deceased is not a student or faculty member but a contracted employee. MTSU officers attempted life-saving measures but were unsuccessful. All activity at Peck Hall is cancelled and will resume tomorrow.
The American Ornithological Society (AOS), the people in charge of studying and naming birds, announced Wednesday it will alter the names of dozens of birds “clouded by racism and misogyny.” n 2020, the AOS renamed a Great Plains songbird to “Thick-billed Longspur.” It had been previously known as “McCown’s Longspur,” an homage to John P.
