Giles County authorities have launched an investigation into a three-vehicle crash at West College Street and First Street in downtown Pulaski. According to officials, someone in a stolen Mercedes was traveling at a high rate of speed before slamming into two other vehicles. The Mercedes was reportedly ditched off Interstate 65 at Exit 22. So far it’s unclear if anyone was injured or killed in the crash. It is also unclear whether the driver of the stolen Mercedes is still on the run.
A 21-year-old was able to avoid any injuries after they jumped from the roof of a home that caught fire in Williamson County on Monday. Crews with Williamson County Fire Rescue said they were sent to a home off Glenhaven Drive at 2:47 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 2 after receiving reports of a structure fire with a person on the roof. The 21-year-old told fire crews that they smelled something burning, opened a bedroom door and found thick, dark smoke in the hallway. That’s when they climbed out a window onto the roof to escape the smoke and called 911. Officials reported the 21-year-old was uninjured, but a Williamson County Sheriff’s Office helicopter landed in the area to ensure they made it out safely.
A suspect in a Murfreesboro car theft made the mistake of speeding through Nolensville this weekend, driving 60 in a 30-mph zone as he passed an officer. Police said they chased after 24-yrear-old John Tinsley, but because of the dangerous speeds at which he was driving, they halted the pursuit. The suspect eventually crashed int a tree. Tinsley faces a variety of felony charges in Williamson County, including aggravated assault on a law enforcement officer and evading arrest. He is also charged in Murfreesboro as it relates to the stolen car. Seven of the eight current members of the Franklin Board of Mayor and Aldermen issued a statement regarding the appearance of those identifying themselves as neo-Nazis on behalf of mayoral candidate Gabrielle Hanson at a Monday forum. The board said they encourage the community to participate in public forums but says it will not tolerate any form of hatred, intimidation or violence. The letter wraps up by asking all candidates, including Hanson, to join them in denouncing the groups actions and the organization.
