Authorities took a man into custody following a Saturday shootout involving multiple people along a the 800 block of Woodland Street in Columbia. The Columbia Police Department said it responded to a shooting incident involving a large group with people on both sides of the street allegedly exchanging gunfire. Authorities said they detained 20-year-old Te’Kwantarius Dion Johnson after seeing him firing a handgun in the crowd. Johnson was charged with attempted first-degree murder and employing a firearm during the commission of a dangerous felony and is reportedly in the Maury County jail.
With 50 percent of Americans saying they are “very satisfied” with the way their personal life is going, personal finance website WalletHub released its report on 2023’s Happiest States in America. WalletHub compared the 50 states across 30 key indicators of happiness. Tennesseans don’t seem to be very happy — the state ranks 48th in the nation. According the data Utah is the happiest state, West Virginia the least happy.
Dozens of delivery drivers who worked for VETsmart Express, LLC — a third-party delivery company that contracts with Amazon — said they haven’t been paid in weeks and are now out of a job. More than a dozen employees say they’ve been working full-time out of the Amazon warehouse in La Vergne, driving Amazon trucks and delivering several hundred Amazon packages a day. After receiving late checks, checks that were short, and eventually no checks at all, the workers said an owner of VETsmart told them on Wednesday, Sept. 13 that the company has dissolved.
A 15-year-old fighting a critical illness was granted her biggest wish this week, which earned her family a new unique pet. Brylee, who is 15 years old, admitted she has a rather uncommon obsession with miniature highland cows, and she has always dreamed of getting one. On Friday, Brylee and her family were surprised with Homer – a miniature highland cow adorned with a blue bow and fluffy hair. Homer now has a new home, and he came equipped with gifts and all the necessary supplies to help Brylee and her family care of him in Spring Hill.
