A man shot and killed a German Shepherd at Percy Warner Park Wednesday morning. Metro Police say the shooting happened around 10:30 a.m. in a parking lot near a maintenance building and steps at the park on Belle Meade Boulevard when a man who was getting out of his vehicle when he was aggressively approached by a German Shepherd not on a leash him while chasing a squirrel. The man reportedly fired his weapon three times, killing the dog. The shooter told officers that he is afraid of dogs because his brother was mauled by one as a young child.
Jason Rose is a developer from Arizona who is interested in bringing Minor League Baseball to Murfreesboro. Rose has been eyeing the Cannonsburgh area for this new venture, but said he has no plans of demolishing the village. Rose has met with people across the city, including Mayor Shane McFarland, who said he is open to the idea. Rose said the proposed stadium would only hold 4,500 seats, and he wouldn’t build onsite parking, saying fans could utilizing street and downtown parking nearby.
A woman is dead, and a man is in critical condition after police investigate a deadly domestic incident in Columbia. The Columbia Police Department responded at about 10:30 p.m. to the 100 block of Woods Drive in regard to a domestic incident. When officers arrived, they found 48-year-old Carole Anne Coleman dead and 59-year-old James Edward Davidson Jr. with several self-inflicted gunshot wounds. Davidson was flown to Vanderbilt University Medical Center, where he is in critical condition. Police said there’s a lengthy history of domestic violence on file with the Columbia Police Department between Davidson and Coleman. Columbia police plan to charge Davidson with first-degree murder and aggravated assault resulting in death. Warrants will be served upon his release from the hospital.
A Tennessee man who wrote on social media about wanting to “take over the Capitol building” before the Jan. 6, 2021, riot, where he threw a flagpole at a police officer’s head, was sentenced on Wednesday to more than six years in prison. Joseph Padilla, of Cleveland was convicted in May of assault with a dangerous weapon, obstruction of Congress and other charges after a bench trial in Washington’s federal court.
