How hot is it?  Robertson County Schools will dismiss two hours early for the rest of the week due to the extreme heat. There will be no trade school on those days either.   Middle Tennessee is expected to see near record high temperatures for the remainder of the week.

For the second day in a row, it was win or go home for Southeast Region champion Nolensville at the 2023 Little League World Series. Today Nolensville will head back to middle Tennessee on a long bus ride after its 5-3 loss Wednesday to West Region champ California, one game short of the United States semifinal at Howard J. Lamade Stadium.

A Lewisburg firefighter was arrested Wednesday afternoon on child rape charges. The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation said in September of 2021, agents began investigating claims that a child had been sexually assaulted by a Lewisburg man later identified as Justin Barron.  The Marshall County Grand Jury returned indictments charging Barron  with one count of aggravated sexual battery and one count of child rape. He was later arrested and booked into the Marshall County Jail on a $150,000 bond.

The City of Fairview is busy preparing for the 2023 Fairview Nature Fest.  The celebration which began as Community Day in the Park back in the 1980s, transitioned from the Fairview Ball Park to Bowie Nature Park in the 1990s. Along with the change in venue, the festival expanded to include Fairview history demonstrators and nature-related exhibits.  Fairview Nature Fest is schedule for Saturday, September 23 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. in Bowie Nature Park in Fairview. After the bleachers at Beech High School collapsed last week, bleachers at other Sumner County high schools were inspected for any needed repairs; a new report details some of the findings and issues.  The Sumner County School Board met Tuesday night to discuss the bleacher issues and the meeting grew tense as parents and school officials voiced frustrations and concerns over safety conditions.  The full timeline for the repairs is still unclear at this time. The Sumner County School Board plans to meet again on Thursday, Aug. 31 to continue the discussion of how to address the bleacher repairs
