The Robertson County Back 2 School Bash will be held at The Center in Springfield tomorrow from 2-6 pm. The bash will resemble a block party, with a number of vendors and games outside in The Center parking lot and along N. Main Street. Towards the end of the event, all visitors will go inside The Center for kids to receive backpacks and school supplies for the upcoming school year.
The Cheatham County Homeless Coalition wants to give the public a better understanding of what it means to be without a home. The awareness campaign will kick off Saturday, Aug. 26 at the Cheatham County Courthouse in Ashland City as teams gather to build cardboard homes as part of the Cardboard City challenge. The event is from 8:30-11:30 a.m. Teams need to register in advance for the event and can do so through the Cheatham County Homeless Coalition website at cheathamhomelesscoalition.com. The registration deadline is Aug. 1. There is no cost for teams to participate. Registered participants will receive a free T-shirt.
An investigation is underway in Sumner County following a Wednesday night shooting that left one person injured. Deputies and detectives responded to a report of a person with an apparent gunshot wound Wednesday. Officials said the victm appeared to have driven himself to an acquaintance’s home along Campbell Hollow Road in the Bethpage area. The injured person was brought to a local medical facility, the sheriff’s office said. There is no word on his condition or identity at this time.
The 2023 Emmy Awards will not air on Sept. 18 as originally planned as the Hollywood writers and actors strikes continue. While an exact rescheduled date hasn’t been decided Fox is reportedly eyeing a move to January. Nominations were announced on July 12. The actors union, SAG-AFTRA, went on strike two days later, joining WGA writers who had been on the picket lines for weeks. t’s the first time two major Hollywood unions have been on strike at the same time since 1960.
