As expected, the smoke from Canadian wildfires pushed into Middle Tennessee and south Kentucky Sunday, creating a hazy sky and reducing visibilities to around 5 miles in most areas.  An Air Quality Alert has been issued for much of Middle TN until Midnight.

Nine-year-old Jackson Crain, a Columbia native, decided to start growing a mullet before football season last year. His family says he started listening to 90’s country and it all just “fell into place.”  Now, he’s entered the USA Mullet Championship for the 9-12 age group. Voting has already opened online.  Another fun fact about Jackson: He named his mullet Freebird “because his hair is free as a bird

A teenage girl is dead, and a man is injured following a Saturday afternoon crash between a motorcycle and a minivan in Putnam County.   Members of the Algood Police Department said they called in Tennessee Highway Patrol (THP) due to the “seriousness” of the crash.  The Algood Fire Department and the Putnam County Sheriff’s Office reportedly assisted with rescue efforts and traffic control following the incident.

A cheerleading coach from a “popular Franklin facility” is currently behind bars for a number of sex-related charges against a teenage girl, according to police.  The Franklin Police Department said 27-year-old James So was arrested on Thursday after the Williamson County Grand Jury indicted him on aggravated rape, four counts of statutory rape, three counts of rape, and two counts of sexual battery.

A Mexican candy company earned a Guinness World Record by creating a massive marshmallow weighing almost 400 pounds more than a grand piano.   The marshmallow was created outdoors as part of celebrations surrounding the state of Jalisco’s 200th anniversary. The Previous biggest marshmallow was 205 and a quarter pounds.  This one was 1,429.4 pounds.
