Buc-ee’s has submitted a site plan for a new location in Clarksville.  Buc-ee’s, a chain of gas stations based in Texas, has submitted plans to redevelop around 45 acres off Interstate 24 at the intersection of Trenton Road and Tylertown Road.  The plans are on the agenda for the Clarksville Montgomery County Regional Planning Commission on Tuesday, June 27.

Tennessee gas prices held relatively steady over last week, moving only a penny more expensive, on average. The Tennessee Gas Price average is now $3.15 which is three cents more expensive than one month ago but $1.45 less than one year ago.  The national average for a gallon of gas fell two cents since last week to $3.57, that’s $1.41 less than a year ago.

The Cheatham County School Board released the results of its annual evaluation of Director of Schools Dr. Cathy Beck at its regular June meeting.  Beck’s total mean score of 4.62 was an increase from 4.61 last year.  Beck’s contract only requires her to have a mean score of 3 or higher to remain in good standing and to receive her full benefits.

A survivor of the 2018 Waffle House mass shooting is recovering after being shot in the head in South Nashville. Following a performance at Hunnii Pot Bar and Lounge on Murfreesboro Pike, Abede DaSilva was outside when he heard gunfire and was struck from behind.  DaSilva h s been a champion for gun-control advocacy over the last five years after losing his brother Akilah in the shooting.  The shooting investigation continues.

The Covenant School will be resuming classes at its temporary site in the fall of 2023 and will not be returning to its main campus.  Officials say they anticipate the school will return to the Burton Hills campus when the appropriate security modifications are complete.  Classes will continue classes at Brentwood Hills Church of Christ, which is about ten minutes from The Covenant School’s campus. Meanwhile, Covenant School parents have filed statements in regard to the shooter’s writings, in hopes of demonstrating the harm that would come from releasing the shooter’s documents.
