The Cheatham County Sheriff’s Office is investigating an apparent accidental shooting involving a 17-year-old and a young boy.  The incident happened yesterday in the two-thousand block of Bearwallow Road in Ashland City.  Investigators say they believe an eight-year-old accidentally shot the teen boy in the abdomen while they were in a vehicle at the property.  Officials say the injured teen was alert and able to communicate with first responders.  Additional information on the incident has not yet been released.

The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation is projecting the state’s drug landscape.  The TBI yesterday named the top ten drugs projected for the Volunteer State in 2023.  Officials said the findings came from drug trends they are seeing this year.  Meth came out on top, followed by marijuana in second and fentanyl in third.

The Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency is cracking down on boating under the influence.  Over 100 people were arrested across the Volunteer State last year for BUI.  Around four percent of boating incidents in Tennessee in 2022 were found to have been primarily caused by using drugs or alcohol.  Officials want to remind Tennesseans about a recently introduced law which makes BUI criminalization the same as DUI.

An electric vehicle parts company is coming to Clarksville. Dongwha Electrolyte made the announcement this week to invest 70-million-dollars in the new facility. The plant will produce components found in EV batteries and will be able to support more than a million vehicles. Nearly 70 jobs are expected to be created and the plant is scheduled to be done within the next 14 months.

Mammoth Cave National Park could be expanding.  A bill was introduced in Washington DC earlier this week to expand the park to help protect its wildlife and preserve its heritage.  The bill was introduced by U.S. Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell and Kentucky Congressman Brett Guthrie.  Officials say the park brought in almost 70-million dollars for the economy in 2021.
