A missing Cheatham County woman may have been spotted in California. Police say Nikki Alcaraz was spotted at a Walmart store in the city of Redding on Saturday. A photo appears to show Alcaraz at an eco ATM selling her phone. Her family has not heard from her for weeks. She left Tennessee to visit family on the west coast with her boyfriend, Tyler Stratton. Anyone with information is urged to come forward.
Wildlife experts are urging Middle Tennessee residents to avoid disturbing wild box turtles. The reptiles are among the animals that are starting to emerge as the weather gets warmer heading into summer. Joanna Prosser with Walden’s Puddle Wildlife Center says wild turtles should not be taken in as pets. She notes that the animals can carry salmonella, adding to the importance of appreciating them in their natural habitat and leaving them alone.
Police in Franklin are searching for a man accused of sexually assaulting a teen boy at a local movie theater. The incident was reported at the AMC Thoroughbred 20 this past Friday, according to FPD. Investigators say a man followed the 14-year-old into the men’s restroom and groped him. The suspect first made small talk with the victim and his friends at the concession stand prior to the incident, according to detectives.
A Go Fund Me page is raising money for a family after a fire left 13 people displaced. It broke out Friday afternoon in Antioch, destroying the house. Thirteen people, including seven children, were able to get out. One person had a burn to their hand. The Red Cross is assisting. An initial investigation shows the fire appears to be accidental and started when one of the children was playing with fire.
Legendary director Martin Scorsese says he will make a film about Jesus. This comes after Scorsese met with Pope Francis over the weekend. The director said he’s responded to the Pope’s appeal to artists in the only way he knows how and that’s writing a screenplay for a film about Jesus. Scorsese has been in Italy after premiering his new film “Killers of the Flower Moon” at the Cannes [[ can ]] Film Festival in France. He previously directed “The Last Temptation of Christ” in 1988, which starred Willem Dafoe as Jesus.
