Dads and other parent figures in Wilson County are pitching in to help keep kids safe in school.  David Kempton began organizing an effort called the Hallway Hero Project at West Elementary a few weeks ago.  A group of volunteers, made up of mostly students’ parents and grandparents, walk the halls each day, making sure doors are locked and keeping an eye on lunch periods and recess.  School officials say all of those involved are unarmed and have passed background checks.  Kempton says he would like to have the program fully running by the fall, eventually expanding outside of Wilson County.

Experts are urging everyone to stay safe around the water over the upcoming holiday weekend.  The Tennessee Department of Health says drowning is the fifth-leading cause of unintentional injury death in the United States.  Officials say knowing swimming basics and CPR can help prevent drowning fatalities.  They add that children should always be supervised around pools and other bodies of water, and that everyone on open water should always use a life jacket.

Police in Cheatham County are looking for a man who allegedly fired at least 20 shots at a home.  Officials say the suspect followed up the gunfire near Pleasant View by leading them on a high-speed chase on Sunday.  He evaded police and has since been identified as 48-year-old Christopher Kent Whitaker, whose picture has been posted online.

A man is in custody after a Maury County shooting that left one person dead and four others injured. It happened around 6:00p.m. Monday when authorities say several people arrived at hospitals. Nineteen-year-old Thomas Keiser died at Maury Regional Medical Center. Another 19-year-old was flown to Vanderbilt University Medical Center in critical condition. Three other people were treated for injuries. Police arrested 19-year-old I’Yauntis Miller on second-degree murder charges.  He’s behind bars without bond.  Investigators believe there were eight people involved in a fight when shots were fired. They say additional arrests could be made.

The days of Netflix subscribers sharing their passwords are coming to an end.  The streamer began emailing customers Tuesday about its new password policy.  Netflix said the email is being sent to members in the U.S. who have been sharing their account outside their household.
