Some Tennesseans are demanding change after the Covenant School shooting in Nashville earlier this week.  Hundreds of protestors gathered at the State Capitol to demand action, three days since the shooting which claimed six lives, including those of three children.  There were students and parents at the rally along with community groups, demanding stricter gun laws.  One person told reporters “thoughts and prayers are not enough” and said “if this is not a wake-up call, I do not know what is.”

The Sumner County Sheriff’s office is looking into threats that were made toward schools in the area this week.  Lieutenant Tommy Greer says the sheriff’s office responded to seven threats on Tuesday, the day after the deadly shooting at the Covenant School in Nashville.   Authorities say a girl at Station Camp Middle School in Gallatin threatened to “shoot the school” in a Snapchat post, prompting two students to report the message to the principal.  The girl is facing discipline from the middle school and criminal charges.

The Army is investigating how two Blackhawk helicopters crashed Wednesday night in Kentucky, killing nine soldiers.   Army officials say the pilots were using night-vision equipment.  All of the soldiers were with the 101st Airborne Division and Governor Andy Beshear asked for everyone to pray for their families.  The helicopters had “black-boxes” and army officials say an aircraft safety team is conducting the investigation.

A Nashville business is inviting kids to write letters to the Metro police officers who ended Monday’s massacre at the Covenant School.  Children’s clothing store Magpies Nashville is accepting letters at their retail location and through the mail.  Sharon Hale says her kids made notes for Officer Rex Engelbert and Officer Michael Collazo, thanking them for saving the school and being heroes.  A group of Girl Scouts from Lakeview Elementary are putting together some letters of their own, writing encouraging notes to the students, staff, and parents at the Covenant School.
